Morris was a first generation American born of Norwegian immigrants

Emigrated at the age of 14 with her family from Norway on 17 March 1905, leaving Oslo (then Kristiania) on the S/S Angelo. They are listed in the ship's register as father Trond Ols., mother Sigrid, and siblings Ole Tronds., Ole Tronds., Sidsel (Sissel) Berit, Nils, Marit, Sigrid, and Ragnhild all listed with last name "Kjøseie". Noted as going to Trond's brother.

The family boarded the S/S Lake Champlain in Liverpool, departing on 21 March 1905.

The Kjos family arrived on the North American continent at Saint John, New Brunswick (registered in the ship's manifest with the last name Kjos) on 3 April 1905. They are one two pages: 1st page at the bottom are Trond O. Kjos, Sigrid, and Ole and Ole T.. Next page, at the top, are Sissel Kjos, Nils, Berit, Marit, Sigrid, and Ragnhild. Their destination was indicated as North Dakota.

The final leg of the journey was by rail as part of the package deal they purchased from the Canadian Pacific Railway.
